Sweet Corn

Corn (maize) has been a traditional staple of the Native American Indians of Southwestern Colorado. We have been raising "Super Sweet" varieties of sweet corn for our tribal members, because of its recognized high quality and exceptional flavor. Now our Farm & Ranch Enterprise will begin marketing its premium sweet corn on a commercial basis to select customers in 2004.

Our Production Practices

We take extra care in monitoring the production of our sweet corn to achieve the highest standards. It meets and exceeds the USDA Fancy Grade and only the best ears are packaged that meet our high standards for taste, size and color.

Harvesting, Packing and Icing

We hand-harvest our sweet corn at the optimum time for maximum sugar content. The best ears are hand-picked and boxed immediately in the field. The boxes are rapidly transported a short distance to our packing shed where they are USDA inspected and then mechanically iced. The product is stored in the cold room until it leaves the farm.
